Roman is an artist and full-stack developer with a long-standing involvement in the arts and culture sector in Aotearoa. His interdisciplinary research interests focus on the relationships between conceptual art and the computational from a Māori perspective.
Roman is an active board member of the Aotearoa Digital Arts Network, where he contributes to the advancement of new media in New Zealand. He has also presented his innovative research at international conferences, including ACM SIGGRAPH, where he introduced new techniques for integrating AI in creative education.

Roman holds a Doctorate in Fine Art from Auckland University’s Elam School of Fine Arts and joins Whitecliffe’s Design Innovation faculty looking to continue his contribution through enriching connections between creativity and tech. He is at the forefront of exploring emerging technologies through a critical lens, ensuring that our student work remains both innovative and socially relevant.
