Whitecliffe College is proud to celebrate the success of Franco Jooste, a talented fashion student from Whitecliffe’s Manukau campus, who has been named the winner of the prestigious Resene Colour of Fashion 2024 competition.
His striking orange dress design, showcased at the Whitecliffe College end-of-year fashion show, captivated judges and audiences alike, earning him this well-deserved recognition.
Franco Jooste’s winning design was inspired by the imagery of a sunrise, symbolizing hope, new beginnings, and boundless possibilities.
“I played with the idea of a sunrise and focused my inspiration on how we embrace new opportunities,” Franco explained.
The dress, created in the bold shade of Resene Adrenalin orange, embodies movement, energy, and transformation, reflecting Jooste’s innovative design approach.
The Resene Colour of Fashion competition has been a cornerstone of Whitecliffe College’s Diploma in Fashion programme since its inception in 2014.
This initiative provides aspiring fashion designers with a platform to showcase their creativity while working with vibrant Resene color palettes.
Each year, Whitecliffe’s students rise to the challenge, producing standout designs that push the boundaries of fashion and color theory.
This year’s theme, “Imagine the possibilities”, encouraged students to think beyond traditional design concepts and explore the limitless potential of color in fashion.
Whitecliffe College has long been recognised for its commitment to fostering creativity, sustainability and innovation in fashion design education.
Through our Fashion programmes our students gain hands-on experience in garment construction, textile innovation, and ethical fashion practices.
