Win the chance to showcase your art with Whitecliffe Wellington!

Showcase art at Whitecliffe, electricity box, Wellington, artwork, competition

To celebrate the launch of our Bachelor of Digital Media and Design in Wellington starting February 2025.

 

Whitecliffe is excited to announce a creative competition open to high school students across Wellington, which offers a unique opportunity for your artwork to be displayed on a local electricity box!

 

Competition Details:

  • Who Can Enter: High school students in Years 10-13
  • Prize: Winning designs painted on electricity boxes, with recognition in the local paper, online, and through other media
  • Judges: A high-profile panel including representatives from Whitecliffe, the Wellington Council, local artists, and a celebrity judge!

 

Special paints and varnishes will be provided, with supervision by Whitecliffe and support from teachers to make sure each artwork is protected and looks its best.

 

Theme Choices:

  • Sustainable Design: Ideas that promote environmental care.
  • History of Wellington: Celebrating our city’s rich heritage.
  • My Wellington: Showcase what makes Wellington special to you.
  • WildlifeCapture the natural beauty and biodiversity of our region.

 

How to Enter:

  • Create a piece of artwork to the specifications listed below that is inspired by one of the theme choices.
  • Dimensions for artwork should be: 40cm wide x 80cm high for a design on a grey pillar or 100cm wide x 90cm high for a substation panel if you want to design something bigger
  • Submit your artwork via email to janeyr@whitecliffe.ac.nz or by post to Janey Richards Whitecliffe College, Ranchhod Tower, 110 Lambton Quay, Wellington 6011, by Monday 31st March 2025 at 5pm.

 

Our judges will convene at the end of January to choose six winners on Monday 31st March 2025 at 5pm.

 

Entrants and winners will be notified by email.  Our winners will also be contacted separately to arrange the painting of their designs. The locations for the winning artworks will be allocated when we know where the winners come from.

 

This is a fantastic chance to put your creative skills to work, share your vision of Wellington, and make a lasting mark on your community.
