Amy’s academic qualifications span education, leadership and strategy and include a Doctor in Business Administration from Charles Sturt University, and a Master’s in Management Studies (Distinction) and Bachelor of Education from Waikato university.
Amy’s academic qualifications span education, leadership and strategy and include a Doctor in Business Administration from Charles Sturt University, and a Master’s in Management Studies (Distinction) and Bachelor of Education from Waikato university.
Her career began as a lecturer in business studies, but soon progressed to become academic staff development tutor providing support and training in adult education. Subsequent senior management roles included Academic Director (Northland Polytechnic), Academic and Quality Unit Director (Waikato Institute of Technology) focused on academic quality and leadership. Other senior positions held include Waitakere Campus Director (Unitec), Acting Chief Executive (Northland Polytechnic), and Chief Executive of a degree offering PTE (Bethlehem Tertiary Institute).
In addition, Amy has held national roles including National Adult Teaching Programmes Review Group, Institutes of Technology Polytechnics/NZQA National Committee, and Ako Aotearoa Research and Implementation Grants Panel Member.
Amy’s recent career as a consultant to the tertiary education sector has included Degree Accreditation and Approval Panel Chair for both NZQA and Teaching Council; EER Reviewer, Monitor and Moderator for level 7 programmes and Consistency Reviewer for NZQA. Amy has also acted as advisor to organisations preparing for EER, curriculum developer, and monitor for projects contributing to the development the single public vocational education entity Te Pukenga.
Her lengthy and continuing engagement in education is driven by a belief in the power of education to positively change lives, and communities and the undeniable value and importance of ensuring access to a world-class education system for future generations.
Amy’s recent appointment as Director of Quality Assurance with a focus on academic policies, processes, structures and new and innovative developments will be enriched by her breadth of experience and insight.
