Te Ara employs Indigenous methods of practice through concepts pertaining to her Iwi, Ngāti Te Ata. Her recent exhibitions include Whānau Marama, Commercial Bay and Seasons Gallery (2022); Wayfinders, DEMO (2022); Toitū Te Moana, Tautai (2022).
As a lecture at the Whitecliffe Manukau campus in the Certificate in Art and Design she has the following to share:
“My goal as a faculty member is to foster meaningful change through others, particularly students. I see my position as an opportunity to create an environment that nurtures personal growth and artistic expression. In South Auckland, there’s a nostalgic familiarity that resonates with the community, making it the perfect setting for individuals to explore their identities and find their place in the world.”
Our certificate program offers a range of subjects, including mixed media, design principles, and traditional art forms which accommodates students’ lives outside of school, allowing them to balance their responsibilities while pursuing their passion for art.
It is a steppingstone, providing six-month foundation that can lead to a three-year study programs or internships for career advancement.
