“Born and raised in West Auckland, I am a professional tattoo artist and Whitecliffe alumni. Before I started tattooing, I did a lot of painting and pencil drawing which lead to a very good understanding of colour. Colour matching is really important within my profession. I have been tattooing for over a decade now, and it has taken me all over the world. This wouldn’t have been possible if it wasn’t for Whitecliffe and the support of my lecturer Noel Ivanoff who believed in my potential and work.
You can never stop learning. If you stop learning or you think you have mastered something, you are going to plateau and hit a certain point where you won’t be getting any better. It is good to listen and have an open mind. You can’t be shy in this industry, you need to put yourself out there, introduce yourself, make sure people know your name. Work hard at everything you do; there are no shortcuts to being great, it is a lot of hard work and long hours. Whitecliffe is a really good place for students to be and I wish all the students the best of luck.”
