David Cowlard is a senior lecturer with specialist teaching experience in lens-based practices, digital media and sound. His interdisciplinary practice is located in the exploration of contemporary urban environments and includes working across photography, moving image, field recording and sound design. David’s research interests include new forms of documentary practice, video as architectural reportage and criticism, locative media and digital representations of the built environment. David holds a Masters by Research from Kingston University, London; he is the curator of unreliable landscapes, an exhibition project focussed on representations of the digital city; and is the director of PhotoForum, an organisation established to promote photography in Aotearoa New Zealand.
