“Galère” is a profound exploration of the marginalized and misunderstood figures often seen in the dimly lit corners of urban nightlife. These individuals—derelict yet deliberately adorned, intoxicated but unyielding—command attention, embodying both an expression of individuality and a rejection of societal expectations. The collection takes inspiration from the emotional tension inherent in their existence: the yearning for connection and self-expression coupled with the alienation of never quite reaching full comfort within one’s skin. This work celebrates the peculiar, the provocative, and the unconventional, challenging audiences to confront their discomfort while questioning societal norms. By redefining traditional beauty standards, “Galère” interrogates what it means to be “normal” and who decides what qualifies as beautiful.
